U16s away to Ballymoney
Inishowen U16s played Ballymoney U16s on Saturday. Inishowen had a slow start letting Ballymoney’s big pack run hard lines and punching holes in the defence leading to 17 – 0 in the first twenty minutes. Inishowen started competing in the rucks and winning good turnovers with Conor McNally being a nuisance at every breakdown. Taking quick penalties, Pierce McConologue ran a nice worked try under the posts and converted himself. Ballymoney scored before the end of the first half leaving it 24 – 7 at half time.
The Inishowen lads came out with better play at the start of the second half. Thw forwards worked hard in the carry and rucks with good passing to Aaron Diver who sliced open the Ballymoney defence. Inishowen kept on the pressure with quick taps and go from penalties for Conor McNally to score under the posts and Pierce McConologue to convert. Ballymoney scored late in the game to finish the score 31 – 19. A big thank you to Ballymoney RFC for hosting us and their hospitality after the game.
